JUBENSHA AUTHOR | GAME MASTER | FOUNDER

Ophelia Au

I first played jubensha with a group of Chinese friends in my hometown of Toronto in 2018. I absolutely loved the game and went online to find more in English so I could play with other friends, but to my dismay, there were none!

Once COVID-19 hit, I had some free time to translate Chinese games, and began hosting them with my friends. I loved being the GM and seeing how different groups act as their characters and approach the puzzles.

Starting in 2023, I began writing my own jubensha using my knowledge of existing Chinese jubensha and an understanding of what appeals to a Western audience. I’ve written two English-language jubensha from the ground up, both to great success, and I am committed to bringing more jubensha stories to the English-language world.

To this end, I founded Twist ‘n Turn Studios so that I can best contribute to the growing sphere of jubensha in the West. I’m rooted in passion for the game, fostering a welcoming community, and uplifting jubensha players, GMs, creators, shops, conventions, and anything else touching the jubensha world. This is the philosophy that guides Twist ‘n Turn Studios.

Lilian and Jason co-founded Twist ‘n Turn, but we have since parted ways. They continue their pursuit of jubensha under their own brands, and we remain collaborators.
